You found a site that wants an email address before it lets you in, and you would rather not give your real one. This guide takes you from the sign-up form to a finished account.
What you need
- A temporary address. If you have none, create a temporary email address.
- The FreeTemp tab, kept open while you sign up.
Steps
- Open FreeTemp in one tab and the website in another.
- Copy your address from FreeTemp and paste it into the email field of the sign-up form.
- Fill in the rest of the form and submit it.
- Go back to FreeTemp. The site's message should appear in your inbox within a minute or two. Learn how to find the verification email if you see several messages.
- If the site sent a code, copy the verification code and enter it on the site. If it sent a link, open the confirmation link.
- When the site confirms your account, you are done. Burn the inbox if you no longer need it.
Common problems
- The site says the address is not allowed. Read what to do when a website rejects your address.
- No email arrives. Follow the missing-email checklist.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use a temporary email for every account?
No. Use it for trials and throwaway sign-ups, not for accounts you may need to recover, such as banking, work or shops with orders.
