What to Do When the Verification Email Does Not Arrive

A checklist for when the verification email does not reach your temporary inbox: check the address, wait, resend once, and try a new address if needed.

2 min read

You submitted the form and the inbox is still empty. Work through these checks in order; most missing emails are explained by the first three.

Checklist

  1. Wait a minute or two. Some senders are slow. Messages appear live, so do not reload.
  2. Check the address. Compare the address you typed with the one in FreeTemp. A typo means the message went elsewhere. The safe way to enter it is described in how to copy and paste your address.
  3. Check that the inbox is still alive. If it expired, the address no longer receives mail. See what to do when the inbox expires.
  4. Look for the message by sender. Sometimes it arrived but is not what you expected: find the verification email.
  5. Resend once. Use the site's resend option a single time. Many requests in a row can delay or block the message.
  6. Try a new address. If still nothing, the site may be blocking the domain. Create a new temporary address and sign up again.

Still stuck?

Some sites refuse temporary domains outright: read when a website rejects your address. If the site only offers a link, see how to open a confirmation link.
