How to Use Temporary Email, Step by Step
From opening the page to receiving a verification code and burning the inbox: everything you need to use FreeTemp safely, including its real limits and fixes for common problems.
- 20 minutes
- default inbox lifetime
- +10 minutes
- per extension, capped at 60
- 5 MB
- default maximum message size
- No sign-up
- an address is ready on arrival
Five steps to get started
- 01
Open the homepage and copy the address
A random address is created as soon as the homepage loads, with no sign-up. Press the copy button. A quick check that you are not a bot may appear before the address is created.

- 02
Paste it into the sign-up form
Use the address in the email field of the site or app you want to register with, then finish signing up as usual. Keep the FreeTemp page open until the message arrives.

- 03
Receive the message and code live
The message appears in the inbox the moment it arrives, without reloading. If a verification code is found in the message, it is shown in a quick-code card with a copy button.

- 04
Read it in an isolated preview
Messages open inside a sandboxed frame with a strict security policy that blocks external images and resources. Treat links inside messages with the same care as in any email.

- 05
Extend the inbox or burn it
The inbox expires on its own after its lifetime. Press "+10 min" if you need more time, or "Burn mailbox" to delete the inbox and its messages immediately when you are done.

Tips for better results
Get ready before you request the email
Keep FreeTemp in one tab and the sign-up in another. Do not close the tab before the message arrives.
Copy the code right away
Verification codes expire quickly on most sites. Request the code once you are ready to enter it.
Do not resend repeatedly
Too many resend requests can delay or block the email. Wait a minute before trying again.
Extend before time runs out
If sign-up takes a while, extend before the inbox is about to expire. An expired inbox cannot be brought back.
Burn it when you are done
If you no longer need the address, use "Burn mailbox" instead of waiting for it to expire.
Limits you should know about
A temporary email helps you avoid spam and protect your main inbox. It is not a way to hide your identity. So:
- The inbox is temporary and expires. Do not use it for an account you may need to recover later (bank, work, a shop with orders).
- Only the latest 50 messages are shown, and a message larger than the limit (5 MB by default) is rejected.
- Some sites block known temporary email domains, so a site may refuse your address.
- We cannot guarantee every message arrives. Delays or blocking on the sender side are outside our control.
- Messages sent to a domain we have not enabled are rejected.
- Do not use the address for sensitive or financial information.
Fixing common problems
The message did not arrive
Wait a minute or two, check that the address was copied in full with no spaces, and that the inbox has not expired. Then request a resend once from the site.
The site rejects the address
It most likely blocks the domain. Generate a new address, which may use a different domain, or use another option for that site.
I cannot create a new address
There is a limit on new addresses per connection within a short period. Wait a few minutes and try again.
The inbox expired before I finished
An expired inbox cannot be restored. Create a new address and request the email again, and extend the inbox before it ends this time.
The quick code does not show
Automatic detection may not recognise every message format. Open the message and copy the code from it directly.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account or password?
No. An address is created when you open the homepage, with no sign-up.
How long does an address last?
20 minutes by default. You can extend by 10 minutes at a time, up to 60 minutes from the moment you extend. Defaults may change.
Can I send email from the address?
No. The inbox only receives messages.
What happens to messages after it expires?
They are deleted with the inbox. Use "Burn mailbox" to delete them immediately.
Can an expired inbox be restored?
No. Create a new address.
Is it suitable for every account?
No. Use it for trials and throwaway sign-ups, not for an important account you may need to recover.
